Our Haiti Mission \u2013 Many Ministries<\/h2>\n

The Rhode Island UCC Haiti Mission is a mission of presence, hospitality, and long-term relationships. It is a partnership between churches of the Rhode Island Conference UCC and the Mission \u00c9vang\u00e9lique Baptiste Bethesda (MEBB) in Haiti, guided by the Haiti Task Force.<\/p>\n

Our Story<\/strong><\/h3>\n

The partnership began in 1990, when leaders from the Rhode Island Conference UCC met Rev. Jean and Jeanette Dorisca, founders of the MEBB. Later that year, conference leaders visited 26 Haitian churches, launching a relationship that continues today. Following Rev. Jean Dorisca\u2019s passing, leadership has been carried forward by Jeannette Dorisca and Rev. Alex Dorisca.<\/p>\n

What We Do<\/strong><\/h3>\n

The mission supports indigenous Haitian churches through human, technical, and financial resources. Over the years, medical professionals, educators, and volunteers of all ages have traveled to Haiti to serve alongside local communities.<\/p>\n

Together, we have:<\/p>\n

  • Staffed clinics and provided thousands of pounds of medicines and medical supplies<\/li>\n
  • Built and supported schools, clinics, churches, and community facilities<\/li>\n
  • Funded construction projects through church giving and fundraising<\/li>\n
  • Drilled community water wells in TiMarche, LaFerone, and Archaie<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n

    Since 1990, nearly $1 million has been raised to support these efforts.<\/p>\n

    • Schools and clinics at seven locations across Haiti<\/li>\n
    • Over 1,000 primary students supported through sponsorships<\/li>\n
    • Supplemental salaries for teachers, doctors, nurses, and staff<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n

      Leadership & Training<\/strong><\/p>\n

      • Support for Haitian translators pursuing college and medical education<\/li>\n
      • Job-readiness programs in computer skills, driving, cooking, and English<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n

        Community & Infrastructure<\/strong><\/p>\n

        • Construction of large community buildings for worship, education, and events<\/li>\n
        • Neighborhood support, including housing and street repairs<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n

          Faith & Relationship<\/strong><\/p>\n
